Painting#1 Rick Costello Space Art

“Telescopic View of the Earth and Moon”            60”x48” Oil with a 36”x24” Acrylic Paint, in relief

I jokingly say, this painting probably has more stars than anyone in the history of man has ever painted on a single canvas. A 60”x48” painting with the Moon in the foreground, the Earth in the background and I “guess” well over 500,000 individual stars in the far background making up a section of the spiral arm of our galaxy.  The inner painting in relief, is acrylic paint and measures 36”x24”. The outer painting is 60”x48” and painted using oil paint. This painting took over 2 years to complete and though seemed impossible at times, I believe it stands out as a one of a kind painting. Every individual star was put on the canvas one at a time.
