                                   The Opposite Galaxy                                                                                             24”x 18”                                                                                                             Acrylic painting                                                                                                                                                                                                        A scene of the Moon, Earth and the Milky Way Galaxy in the negative.   Space is white and the stars are grays and blacks.  I have had this painting in my head for a few years, just wondering how it would look and I finally did it.  The larger stars are the constellation stars and they get smaller the closer they get to the center of the galaxy.  Like all my paintings, every star was put on the canvas one at a time and where it belongs in relation to the spiral arms of the galaxy.  The exact number of stars is unknown but there is probably between 80,000 and 120,000.
